Life Post

The possibility of life on your body.

My body specifically most likely doesn't have water. The nickel- iron type most likely doesn't have water. The stony are believed to have a possibly small amount of water. The stony-iron have a little bit of water. The asteroids that orbit through mars, don't have water because the heat of the sun dried it all out. The ones farther away contain some water, but as ice. My body doesn't have a magnetic field. Asteroids aren't massive enough to hold mass. Not enough mass means not enough gravitational pull which means no atmosphere. I don't think that there is life.

Mars

Mars is located between Earth and Jupiter. It is in the region of the asteroid belt. It is about 1.5 Au away from the sun. Scientist believe there has been life on Mars. There are many reasons for this. One of the reasons were because they discovered methane of Mars. I believe that there could possibly be life on Mars.

Space

Space is measured by units. (meters, miles, km, etc.) Au, Km, and ly are different ways to measure space or distance. Au (astronomical unit) is the distance between earth and the sun. 1 Au equals 150 million km. One light year equals 63239.2493 Au. You use light years to measure the distance to things in outer space like stars or galaxies.

My body is about 588.8 million miles away from Earth. Since my body is located between mars and Jupiter, the farthest it could be is 588.8 million miles away from Earth because that is how far away Jupiter is. Gailie's spacecraft was originally suppose to take 2 years to go from Earth straight to Jupiter. But it turned out to take 6 years. It would most likely not be possible for humans to make it to the end of the Asteroid belt, but it could be possible to make it to part of the Asteroid belt. So it is possible to make it there.

Hermes Asteroid Accretion

This how Hermes Asteroids formed. Gas and Dust collect in a nebula. Particles start to join together. Small objects form through accretion. After that the Asteroids start to form. Large objects cant accrete because the gravity of Jupiter and Mars pull at them. Now they exist in an Asteroid Belt of small objects and cant become planets.
Vocab

accretion- when two objects collide and make a bigger object.

fussion- when atoms collide and fuse together.

plasma- a state of matter that is hotter than gas and more dense then solids

supernova-an explosion that produces star.

Why Pluto is not planet

Pluto is no longer considered a planet. It was once considered a planet a while ago. It is no longer considered a planet because it no doesn't fit the "rules" to be a planet. In order to be considered a planet, you would have to be a sphere, have enough gravitational pull to govern all the objects around it, which would clear the orbit, and it would have to orbit a star. Pluto does not have enough gravitational pull to govern the objects around it. Scientist have recently discovered that Pluto can not clear its orbit. It keeps crashing into different objects. My body is not considered a planet. It isn't planet because it does not fit any of the concepts in being a planet. It is an asteroid. Since it is an asteroid, it is not a perfect sphere. It does not orbit a star. It is on the asteroid belt, which orbits between Mars and Jupiter. It can't clear its path because it doesn't have gravity.

AMNH expirience

What did we do in each exhibit?
We saw a movie. In the building we walked down the cosmic pathway. It had different years of events from 13 million years ago to today. During the movie, it showed us how the universe was like one second after the Big Bang Thoery. It also explained how the universe different then it was an hour after the Big Bang then today. In the Rose Center we went to the Cullman Hall of the Universe. In the Cullman Hall of the Universe, they had exhibits on planets and asteroids, meteres, meteroites, etc.

3 things that i learned:
1. After the Big Bang the Earth remained dark for several million years
2. Most of meteroites that hit Earth are wayward fragments from the asteroid bolt.
3. Meteroites provide information on the history of our solar system, we can learn details about how our solar system envolved into the sun and planets of today.

2 questons:
How old is my body?
What can we predict something about a meteor by just looking at it?

Discovery- Hermes Asteroid

Hermes Asteroid was first discovered in 1937. It disappeared for 66 years and then found again on october 15. It was discovered by arecibo's telescope. At first they thoguht it was just a bright object passing by. But it is actually two giant objects in space traveling together. Hermes makes frequent close approaches to Earth, Venus, and Mars. It is the third biggest asteroid in the asteroid belt between mars and jupiter.
